Hello.
Today I had one of those days when I am wondering what I am doing, thinking that I am not good enough at drawing and that there are so many super talented illustrator's out there that maybe I should be realistic and surrender and get a "real" job (yes, very few seem to realise that being an illustrator actually is a real job) and have paid holidays and sick pay and maybe even a pension plan.
But then I found this old doodle and was reminded, it is not all about the money is it? We spend more time at work then we do with our families and partners, so why not work with something that makes us happy?
PS. I just found some wise quotes in the subject over here.

The London Design Museum and The Power of Shit
Why does this woman look so happy?
'Cos she is having a shit.
I am embarrassed to say that it has taken me years and years to visit the London Design Museum but last weekend I went and the exhibition that I really liked was not the Conran one, or the Design of the Year one, but the United Colors of Benettons' "Survival Guide". (I hope I got that all right).
My camera is misbehaving and my autofocus hardly works which makes me unbelievably sad 'cos I don't know what to do without a camera but anyway, I took some pictures but I am afraid the focus did not work so they are really crap. The picture of the smiling woman above is, if I remember right, from Bolivia where there are very few not just official toilets but toilets in general so women basically find a nice spot and sit down and have a shit under their massive skirts, voila!
It is amazing what you can learn about shit at the Design Museum, for an example, did you know that Rwanda is the only country in the world that powers the most of their prisons with the inmates shit?
Another favourite was from Korea where a lot of couples seem to want a "war theme" on their wedding photos so at the exhibition you can see a few photos of the bride and the groom running for their life's in their nice wedding outfits while soldiers are chasing and aiming at them and the world is in flames, romantic...
Go an see the show and you will see some really fantastic things, people that built their own planes and cars and how they tackle the fact Korea has the second highest suicide rate in the world and how you can practise the power of laughing in India and how you can tackle the problem of people urinating on walls;
Would you piss on a wall with Jesus, Krishna or Buddha on it?
Have a nice weekend!

Once Upon A Time in Urban Outfitters
I am taking part of MoonKo's Once Upon a Time exhibition (Zoey Hardwick, Holly Betton, Deborah Moon, Rose Petal Deer and me) in Urban Outfitters, High Street Kensington in London. The exhibition is starting today and will be on for three months so there is plenty of time to go down and have a look but for those of you who live far away, here is a little sneak peek from this morning when we started to set it all up.
Thanks Debbie for asking me to take part!

Playing animals pattern
Bilingual By Music that I am illustrating the children's songbook for asked me if I could make them a pattern to use on their Twitter page and here it is, my Playing Animals Pattern. Normally I work with hand drawn illustration so turning my doodles into vector characters has been quite new for me but I am very happy with it and the colour scheme, or what do you think? Here's another image just to show how the repeat works;
I am very excited about all the work I have done for Bilingual by Music and can't wait to get it all published and out there and I think it's just a question of weeks now before it will happen, exciting :)

Great News
I did not think that my submission would make it but just received a mail that said that it has been chosen for the Doodlers Anonymous Colouring Book Volume 2, yeay, I am well happy! I love Doodlers Anonymous and will show images of the upcoming colouring book as soon as I can. Now I will celebrate with a nice cup of coffee and continue my new obsession of drawing hamsters and guinea pigs, have a nice Sunday!
