Birthday Hamster by Åsa Wikman
Soften up a bit

I don't show sketchbooks or sketches very often, mostly because I am a mess and don't use sketchbooks, I sketch all over the place on tissues and random pieces of paper and I if I have a sketchbook and make a drawing I like, I rip it out. But, here's a sketch, a birthday hamster.

Now I am going to make a nice big cup of coffee and prepare a upcoming exhibition with Moonko at Urban Outfitters on Kensington High Street in London :)

Have a nice weekend everyone!

London pt 2

Photobucket

I walked passed this massive yellow spray painted flower that I really like and realised that something that I really love about London is the fact that everything is not clean, tidy and perfect, there's a constant mix of new and old, lot's of contrasts and various styles clashing, I love it. If you ask me, perfect is boring.

Happy Birthday To Me

Photobucket

It is my 35th birthday today and I actually like getting older (even-though I don't really like the white curly hair that has started to grow on my head, I wish it could wait about 4-5 years before it starts appearing but anyway), getting older and wiser is not an issue for me, I think that it's actually quite nice, but I do get nostalgic.

It doesn't feel as if it was that long ago since I had a 80's hair-sprayed fringe and side burns and my older sister was into 80's rock and punk and had the most amazing hand sawn crocodile patterned leggings and mixed her own lipgloss and my dad had holidays with us in his tight turquoise leopard patterned swim trousers and people talked about a new strange fruit that had appeared in the supermarket called kiwi and eating tacos was considered exotic and cool, but it is, so here is some nostalgia. My mom back in the good old 70's, me and my oldest sister Marina, Zita as a puppy and my dad just before he became a dad, and me at a age were I thought hiding in the wardrobe was pretty much the most exciting fun thing that could happen in a day. And while being nostalgic, one of the best tunes ever

It's spring here in London and it is very hard to sit inside and work while the sun is shining and it's about +18C outside, so I have been on a little walk through my neighbourhood and I took my camera with me. I fell in love with the dog sleeping in the window, he rests there everyday, drooling in the sun.

Doodlers Anonymous Colouring Book 2

Best friends doodle by asa wikman
I love doodling so when Doodlers Anonymous had an open submission for their next doodle colouring book I got well excited and quickly submitted some doodles and here is one, my Kitty character out walking with her best friend, her plastic duck Henry. I don't think that my submissions made it into their colouring book, they have the cream of the cream of doodlers submitting some pretty amazing work, have a look here. But one thing is for sure, I really want the next version of their colouring book, it will definitely be amazing!

Friday Goat

Photobucket

Here is some work in progress, I hope to get some time to sit down and finish this project soon, a massive print with happy goats hi jacking a playground, the stupid thing is that I am completely blocked about drawing in A3 and A2 size and then I have problems scanning it properly. Hmm...need to re program my brain into drawing smaller, this might take a while...
