Pop corn

Photobucket

My obsession with giraffes and graphics is not over yet and I am working on yet another pattern and here's a little sneak peek, I call it Pop corn and I think that this one is my favourite so far, it might be the 80's colour scheme that makes it so special for me, I grew up with these colours, perms & to much hair spray, Depeche Mode & Madonna, Dallas, V and Falcon Crest - all the pastel colours makes me a bit sentimental.

What else is new?

I find it strange that there are so few illustration exhibitions and shows in a city like London, that probably has 10 illustrators per square metre and is such a mecca for culture and art, so I am trying to change that and is organising and putting together some shows of my own and I am very pleased to say that a have an amazing bunch of illustrators with me so stay tuned for more info and if you have a gallery or a space and would like to host a illustration show then please do get in touch!

PS. Thanks for all the feedback and comments on previous posts, I really appreciate it!

Work: Tribe Pattern

Photobucket
Photobucket

I just wanted to show some of my personal work that I have been working on lately, for me it is very important to take some time now and then to play and develop myself and during this Christmas I had some time to do so which was great.

One of the thing that I worked on was pattern making and here is my new Tribe pattern and as you can see I have turned slightly obsessed with Giraffes lately, I think it might have reached it's peak now and it might be about time to move on to another species but I do love working with graphics and photography in my pattern making, I like the contrasts of real and organic and controlled vector shapes, or maybe I am just running slightly mad, what do you think?

Lately I have been working on a new pattern collection and now I just finished it and is celebrating with a nice cup of tea and thought I'd share a little sneak peek from the new collection with you, so here is two of my new patterns, Mint and Gold, what do you think?

I have always enjoyed working with graphic shapes and photography so this time I thought that I would base the new collection around that and plunge into it, and as a child of the 80's I wanted to go back to the 80's colour palette with pastel pinks and bubblegum colours. I like the contrast between sterile and controlled graphics and black and white photography of real living animals.

PS. There's a short interview with me regarding my latest projects in Lemonade Magazine 04, to read the interview click here

I think that most of you recognise these patterns, I have shown some of them before, here on the blog, on my website and on my Twitter account, I call them my Evolution pattern collection; Budgie Love, Swedish Winter and Evolution. The last, the Evolution pattern is much, much larger in reality, I just wanted to show how the repeat works so I scaled it down, here it is in its real scale;

I am not sure if my obsession with hand drawn animals and patterns has ceased so there might be more soon.

Have a nice weekend!

My Pattern Kit

I made a small kit with my favorite patterns, here you can see parts of it. It contains 12 pages and has my CV in the back.  I am afraid that all my pictures are slightly out of focus. I think that my digital camera is giving up on me, ever-since I came back from Thailand and Cambodia it hasn't worked properly, but anyway, it still works atleast :)

Have a nice weekend everyone!
